I made myself a felted business card case a long time go. It's read and beaded all over. I made a single cherry blossom (see the cherry blossom pattern in my book Noni Flowers or purchase the very similar Bling Flowers flower pattern) that I also beaded - just in the center and around the edges. Whenever I pull it out, people fall in love with it.
I moved from a hard case to a soft case because the metal case I was using - an old brass cigarette case that had belonged to my maternal grandmother - started to get beat up and dented, scratched. In order to preserve it, I fashioned myself a card holder one day.
I've been pestered ever since to turn that little case into a pattern for you. Here it is!
Once you've knit one, you just might have to make more. Not only do these little flat purses work well for business cards, but they are also perfect for special jewelry, perhaps a bride's special wedding-day treasures, as the gift "box" for any small and lovely gift. A beautiful pair of earrings, an anniversary ring . . . I can even imagine one or two of the finest chocolates carefully wrapped in painted foil.
Have fun thinking up gifts for these lovely gift purses.
And have fun decorating them in the style of the receiver: blingy with sparkel rivets or beads, or both, bedecked with flowers or only one, covered in vintage buttons, knitted in stripes, rivetting in cabochon rivets, alien skuls, or spikes . . . have fun!
