Why You Should Take This Class: What Past Course Alumni Are Saying

This course will give you all the basic skills to finish virtually any Noni purse . . . but on a small scale that allows you to finish a project, from casting on to finishing touches in a single day.

Jenifer from Oregon: It seemed like such a simple pattern; I wasn't sure there would be much to learn. . . I could not have been more wrong!

"It was love at first sight of a Noni bag--the cherry blossom and lattice bags. I wanted to knit and own them all. I have even taught classes at my LYS to share the joy of a felted Noni bag.
With that much Noni knitting experince, I wasn’t sure that I would learn much taking the Tiny Felted Purses workshop. It seemed like such a simple pattern, I wasn't sure there would be much to learn. I could not have been more wrong!

I learned insider tips about every step of the process from the Master herself: felting, attaching bags to the frame, finishing, and beading. I admit that I haven’t put beads on my bags because the process seemed tedious and difficult.  With Nora‘s insider tips, however, I look forward to jazzing up and bedazzling any number of future felted bags. I also felt energized with ideas (which I needed after the pandemic). It was a wonderful experince and so fun."

Lisa from Michigan: Many of the finishing techniques taught in this course will help me finish other purses I’ve knitted but have yet to finish . . . with the technology of Zoom and the small class size, it was almost like having Nora in my home as my personal tutor.

"I took Nora’s Tiny Felted Purses from Start to Finish class in December, and I highly recommend it. Just like the name says, you’ll have a completely finished, lined and beaded tiny purse by the end of theclass, and the only prep work you have to do before class is wind the yarn into a ball.

Many of the finishing techniques taught in this course will help me finish other purses I’ve knitted but have yet to finish.

I now know how to sew a purse into a frame, line a purse, and embellish with beads. These skills apply to the larger Noni purses as well. In addition, Nora can answer any questions you have about knitting or finishing any of her purses. You can even ask her any knitting questions you have related to other projects!

The other thing I found very useful is that Nora told us what she would change about some of her older projects and how to adapt those patterns. The class was definitely worth the price, and with the technology of Zoom and the small class size, it was almost like having Nora in my home as my personal tutor."

Class FAQ

Will there be breaks for lunch? stretching, etc?

Yes, there will be mini-breaks throughout the day that allow you to stay comfortable.

What if I want to make a purse other than the ones you are promoting here?

No problem, simply purchase the Tiny Purse Complete Kit and or Hardware, Yarn, and Pattern combo that appeals to you and use that for the workshop. If you have questions, reach out to Nora.

What if I can't make it to the in-person zoom class?

No Problem! All course content will be available in video form after the class.  You will not lose access to the video.

What if I want to attend a later session of this class . . . can I take it again?

All class alumni will be invited to attend future versions of this class, so if you can't make it for this particular class in person, it's likely you will be able to attend a future date.

What if I can't get my purse made up before the class?

It takes less than an hour to make your Little Big Love, More Big Love, or Cute Cute! purse(s)! Heart on My Sleeve Takes somewhat longer than that, so if this is your favorite, please knit it at home and be ready to weave in ends on class day.

For the really tiny purses, such as Cute Cute and the two Love purses, we will knit them in class. We will all felt our purses by hand as part of the class. I will cover other felting techniques also: felting in the top-loader and felting in the clothes dryer.

Is it ok to ask questions about purses I made before this class?

By all means, yes. Bring all your questions, show-and-tell unfinished bags, share things you need help with, things you need to fix, and get inspired to felt, fix, and finish them.

All the skills you learn in this class are transferrable to different and, many times, larger bag, tote, and purse projects. Everyone benefits from the answers to different people's questions.

These lockets really lock, so make sure you keep the key in a good place . . .

Each locket makes a charming, lovely ornament for a tiny bag. Or it can be used to lock that little box of treasures. Or a secret chest. Or the two zippers of a suitcase or bag.

Collect them all as charms. Maybe a girl might like a little locket locked to the front belt loop of a pair of jeans. Lock some rubber band bracelets together in a bunch. Lock the front of your Ella Coat closed and wear the key on a chain around your neck. Lock the french cuffs of a blouse closed. . . Lock through the eyelet on the top of a pair of lace-up boots.
